8:04 Tembakan pertama Jim Leyland.

9:03 Bonnie Bernstein sedang mewawancarai Jim Leyland.

  • pachinko slot demo

    Arik writes:

Is pachinko considered a form of pinball? If so, why is it illegal? I can’t comprehend why a game of this nature is any different than a ticket jackpot machine commonly found in kids arcades and chucky cheese’s throught the U.S.

As far as I know, Arik, there are no U.S. state or federal laws specifically targeted at pachinko and it is not illegal in the U.S. Its regulation in the U.S. (when not played for money) falls under normal fair games and amusements, which most if not all states do have laws and regulations for. It’s certainly pretty easy to acquire a pachinko machine for home use; they are carried by many amusement machine companies, as well as home slot online casino suppliers. Most machines I’ve seen run in the US$100-300 range.

For those of you who do not know, pachinko is a Japanese game. It consists of a standing machine with a spring-loaded hand control. The player loads a large amount (usually in the hundreds) of small metal balls (about 1/4 inch wide) into a hopper in the machine. When the hand control is rotated, the balls fire out at a speed determined by how far the hand control is turned. If the player keeps the hand control rotated, the balls continue to fire at regular intervals.

They fire into a lattice of metal pegs, obstacles and goals. The aim of the game is to fire the balls into goals, which are usually small wheels or slots in the board. Based on the number and frequency of balls which hit these goals, the machine pays out more balls, based on rules which are totally unknown to the player. Usually the machine includes some sort of progressive modes, which encourage the player to play more balls and get the machine “hot” to pay off even more balls. The goal is to leave the machine with more balls than you started with.

In Japan, these balls are then exchangeable for prizes. The prizes usually seem totally out of whack with the amount the game costs — you may pump $20 worth of balls into a machine and get a little weird teddy bear, for instance. However, near every pachinko parlor is a store that “purchases” these specific prizes for cash. It’s that exchange which makes pachinko a gambling game in Japan, and while gambling is illegal there it is generally tolerated in this technically illegal form.

As to why it is not popular in the U.S. is open for debate. My theory is that the game isn’t all that exciting compared to the legal forms of U.S. gambling such as video poker or blackjack, and it isn’t as much of a game of skill as, say, skee-ball, if it were to be played for amusement or fair-type prizes. On the other hand, pachinko is more skill-based than basic three-reel slot machines, and those are wildly popular in the U.S. It’s conceivable that pachinko machines could get regulated and legalized in a place like Vegas as a gambling device, but I don’t see why any casino would go through the trouble — they would require much more maintenance and support than the existing video gambling machines and don’t offer anything unique to the casinos other than perhaps an attraction for Japanese tourists and pachinko enthusiasts.

For further reading, there are some good article on pachinko in Japan out there. Try here and here for starters. You can also search eBay for pachinko auctions.

    A couple of interesting sidenotes:

Juzo Itami, a Japanese movie director who was responsible for my favorite foreign film, Tampopo, also directed a movie called A Taxing Woman (Marusa no onna). It revolves around an aggressive tax inspector who is going after a pachinko parlor for under-reporting their revenues.

I’ve heard that some Japanese pachinko parlors post “No Gaijin” signs, or don’t allow Americans. I’m not sure how many of them do this; a couple of my friends have been to Japan and played pachinko with no problems so it may be rare.

  • bad news for public slot online in texas

The Texas District and County Attorneys Association in Austin is going after public poker tournaments, by proactively seeking an opinion from the Texas Attorney General that free public poker tournaments which use a points-based or similar system to give out prizes are illegal.

To bolster his interpretation of Texas’ gambling laws, Kypreos is seeking an opinion from the Texas attorney general’s office on the legality of public poker games that use a point system.

    […]

Police and prosecutors are waiting for similar guidance before cracking down on public poker games, said Richard Alpert, Tarrant County assistant district attorney.

The amazing part of this is that Markus Kypreos, the research attorney making this case, is contending that public slot online tournaments are illegal even if they are free. I thought the above article had it wrong until I read his own article from the November-December TDCAA Prosecutor newsletter:

Two blocks from the TDCAA office, a sign hangs from a restaurant balcony: “Free Texas Hold Em Tournament Every Saturday.” This has become an all too-common attempt to circumvent the law. These poker clubs, which use local restaurants and bars to hold their tournaments, eliminate the entry fee and allow the public to play for free. They then award the winners points. Over several months, players can use their points to redeem valuable rewards and prizes. Some establishments even award vacations. So why are these poker clubs illegal?

He then goes on to contend that players are playing for something of value, and therefore the contest is illegal. Kypreos is conveniently overlooking the fact that the Texas penal code is very clear:

“Bet” means an agreement to win or lose something of value solely or partially by chance.

I can’t see it likely that he will succeed in effectively redefining “bet” as including agreements to simply win something of value based on chance, with no chance of losing. If that were to occur, a whole swath of promotional games and activities in Texas would suddenly be as illegal as the so-called “illegal poker clubs” (read: bars and restaurants offering free tournaments) that this radical anti-poker lobbyist is trying to get banned.

four poker thieves caught in san antonio

On Friday night, four armed thieves robbed a poker game in San Antonio and were then caught by police. From the article, the foursome were local construction workers and do not sound like they are related to the recent Austin robberies.

The four suspects were charged with aggravated robbery, according to the police report. Their names were not released because they had yet to see a judge as of Saturday afternoon.

    […]

An officer said the suspects are construction workers who had a job at a nearby house. They are accused of stealing more than $1,500, seven wallets, 70 poker chips, four cell phones and several pieces of jewelry.

    off to the real deal

I’m out to Vegas this weekend for yet another few days of shenanigan-filled poker playing and drunken antics. I find my trips to Vegas fall into three categories: trips with the lady, trips with family/coworkers, and trips with fellow compulsive check-raisers. This trip is the latter, which means at just about any hour you’ll find me wandering situs slot the hallowed halls of the Bellagio, chain-drinking at a blackjack, pai gow, or $1-2 NL/$15-30/$30-60 hold’em table, wearing a ridiculous green poker visor and t-shirt with a witty poker saying such as “you have no outs” and trash-talking the elderly after I scoop massive pots from them holding such premium hands as 96 offsuit and T3 suited. And perhaps doing my best Ashley Revell impersonation.

I’m also going to try my hand in the Friday night Bellagio tournament, and perhaps one or two of the low-roller tournaments around Vegas. Some sort of trip report to follow, which I’ll post over at Up For Poker.

Poker blogger tournament bustout notwithstanding, I’ve been playing some very decent poker lately, so I’m liking my chances at the tables this weekend. Especially at the $1-2 NL tables, which as one dealer told me over a couple Singapore Slings with Mezcal on the side, is “an ocean of flopping WPT-spawned fish who play any ace like they’ve got two, play deuces like they’re kings, draw to all runner-runner possibilities for over-pot bets, check down the river in last position when they flopped quads, and don’t stop playing until all cards in their wallet are maxed out.” Oh wait, that was a dream. I hope it comes true.

  • sanghoki Tracker website hacked

The sanghoki Tracker website was hacked early last week, which resulted in the website having to be taken down until it was re-uploaded yesterday. The source of the hacking is unknown, but hacking has been rife over the last few months, with numerous popular sites being hacked and experiencing problems with running properly.

Hacking is currently very popular amongst Turkish webmasters, but it is not always confined to these regions. Hacking has become quite popular, and once a site has been hacked there is not usually anything malicious taking place apart from visitors being redirected to a random page of the hacker’s desire. It appears that the bigger the site that is hacked, the more impressive the hacker will appear within hacking communities.

Users of the sanghoki Tracker software will be relieved to hear that no part of the software was hacked, as all of the problems were confined to the website. So users should not be worried about safe usage of the software if they used it last week or are continuing to do so now. However, users may have found that they were unable to receive any updates during last week, but it should no longer be a problem as the site is now back up and running well.

It could be said that these non-malicious hacks may well be good for big websites in the long run, despite the fact that they are tedious and frustrating for the webmasters and users alike. After experiencing a hack, the webmasters can figure out how it took place, and take measures to make sure that it does not take place again in the future, and thus reducing the risk of future hacks and damage to the website.

If you are looking for something a little different to the Poker Tracker software, you can always head over to the Poker Office website and give their software a try using their free trial. The program does exactly the same thing as Poker Tracker, but it has a cleaner interface and has all the add-ons such as a table overlay and graphing software included within the price tag. You can also import hand histories from PT to PO, so there is no need to worry about having to start a completely new database up if

    The stop and go

If you are short-stacked in a poker tournament and on the edge of pushing all in, there is a certain play that you can make to help improve the chances of keeping your tournament life. The play that you can use is known as the ‘stop and go’ play, and it takes place over the preflop and flop betting round when you have a hand that you are prepared to move all-in with.

If you are short stacked with a decent hand, and you find that an opponent has raised before you, the typical action by most players would be to stick all of their chips into the middle. However, this is the perfect opportunity to utilize the ‘stop and go’ to help improve your chances of survival. So instead of pushing all in preflop, you call your opponents bet with the intention of moving all in on the flop when the action gets to you.

This play increases your fold equity, as your opponent will have to consider whether they want to continue with the hand for the price you are giving them. Whereas if you are moving all in preflop, you are more than likely to be giving your opponent the right odds to call and see 5 cards to try and make the best hand. On the flop however, they will now have to call a bet to see a further two cards, and so it may be in the their best interest to fold if they have not improved their hand significantly.

Even if it turns out that your opponent hits the flop hard and calls it should not bother us, as we should remember that our chips were going to be put into the middle at some point, whichever play we decided to make. By calling before the flop instead of pushing, we are giving our opponent the opportunity to make a fold on the flop, regardless of whether or not we improved our hand. Therefore it makes it more advantageous to make this sort of play when short stacked if we have a half decent but vulnerable hand. If we have a monster like AA or KK however, it would be better to push all in rather than make a stop and go play.

A good stop and go situation obviously depends on the size of your short stack. If your short stack

  • game online terlengkap Been A Long Time Coming…

Tonight things came together (along with getting lucky in a few key spots) and I took down the Riverchasers Weekly Online game online terlengkap Tour which most importantly served as the 7th installment of the Battle of the Blogger Tournaments 2.

I may post later about a couple of key hands during this tournament and I may not but right now I am tired for midnight makes for a very late night for me.

I am psyched not only about winning but also for getting a shot at the Aussie Millions Tournament Of Champions which will hopefully end with my wife and I (and probably the rascals) heading Down Under.

Some shout outs and thanks to those that deserve it:

    – Surflexus for helping me out with finding a way to get some funds to Full Tilt since I always seem to donk off my money every month playing heads-up too high!

    – TripJax for embezzling those funds.

    – AlCantHang for getting BBTwo together.

    – Katitude for a killer BBTwo webpage and all around lusciousness. I don’t know what it is but whenever she comes to sit at my table I get the heebie-jeebies and start giggling like a little schoolgirl. Anyways…

    – Full Tilt Poker for giving us what we need.

    – Last but not least. Spoon. The music makes for great poker.

Thanks everyone who railed during the tournament. Especially you ROLL TIDE haters out there.

3.7% is the chance a donkey has of winning the Battle of the Bloggers Aussie Millions package. You might be able to tick that up to 4% due to my “hee haw” prowess but not much more than that.

Hopefully this thing will work out for me and I can take my wife on a helluva trip!! Please come out tomorrow and root me on!!!

Someone out there in the know needs to put up odds on everyone. That should be funny. I know I am a long shot but you know what they say about long shots. I am definitely going to show up to take the thing down.

On a side note… I can remember coming home from school early in the 4th grade and putting on the radio until I was able to record the following song to tape where I then commenced to drive my parents insane by playing it over and over again. I ended up getting the actual album on tape for Christmas in 1982. I was 9. What a great song…still!

  • Dos and Don’ts of Joining a Discord Server

Discord servers can be a great way to connect with like-minded people and discuss your favorite topics. Since Discord servers are usually open to the public, there are some basic etiquette rules you should follow.

    Do:

Introduce yourself:  When you join a server, introduce yourself in the #general channel. This shows that you’re friendly and polite and gives the server’s members a chance to welcome you.

Be respectful:  Even if you don’t know someone, it’s important to be respectful. This includes not using offensive language, spamming, or being disruptive.

    Don’t:

Spam or flood the chat:  This is one of the quickest ways to get yourself kicked out of a server. Not only is it annoying, but it makes it hard for others to have a conversation.

Be a troll:  Don’t go into a server just to cause trouble. This includes starting arguments, being disrespectful, or deliberately trying to annoy other members.

Steal someone’s identity:  Don’t pretend to be someone else, especially if you’re trying to impersonate a server staff member. This can get you banned from the server.

  • An 84 hour Slot Demo bender in Atlantic City, Part III, and less

Ok, here it is folks… no fancy introduction… just the semi-long-awaited recap of THE HAND OF DESTINY (as referred to by Slot Demo, Pinky, and AlCantHang) from Taj 2/4, plus the rest of our blogger days in AC two weekends ago. I’ll need another post to cover the remainder of Saturday and Sunday, so check back in a few days for Part III & 1/2 of this AC experience. I’ll cover 5/10 O/8 with a full kill in that post, plus some crazy late night poker at Borgata.

Man I’m pumped up, so excuse the tone of this post. I just won a monster $370 pot in a NL$100 game on Party when a guy bet the pot into me on the river while I was holding the stone cold nuts. I re-raise all in, he calls (we both had 180BB at the start of the hand). He has some weak-ass two pair, I win. YES!

    Friday

Ok, so we were talking about AC, right? When I left off, I had gone to bed Thursday night suffering some pretty bad losses. Well, I came back Friday playing strong, and met up with Pinky in the poker room at about 4pm. My sleep cycles were all effed up by that point. A few hours into a decent 1-2 NL table I picked up AA and got it all in on the flop vs QQ… my hand held up and I had over $600 in front of me. This momentum fueled me through the rest of the session, and combined with some smaller winnings from 6/12, I was nearly even for the trip, maybe even up a little.

Pinky, the bastard he is, snapped off my hammer bluff heads up with AQo unimproved on a 66K flop. I was the BB, he was UTG I believe, and when it was folded to me I popped it $20. He calls, we take the flop, I check, he pots it, and I meekly fold. I’d planned to check-raise, but wussed out. HEAVENLY POKER GODS, FORGIVE ME FOR MY WEAK HAMMER PLAY.
